Shera grew up in a middle class home, living in one of the nicer communities. Her father was a carpenter, and made a fairly decent living as such. Shera's mother was a housewife, but she had a part time job selling baked goods. The advantage of her upbringing is that both of her parents taught her their trade. Shera is a top notch carpenter, and makes some of the best cookies you could ever taste.
Shera is an only child, and because she had no other siblings to interact with, she has grown up to be a fairly shy woman. She is soft spoken, very polite, and does whatever she can for those who seek her help. When she is not working at her usual job, she volunteers some of her time at a soup kitchen in the slums. She bakes bread and other goodies and hands them out to those who are hungry.
Shera believes there is good in everyone, even those who do terrible things. She believes that a person's environment makes them who they are, and even the most rotten person can be changed through a show of mercy and kindness. She doesn't know how to fight, and has a habit of putting herself in bad situations because of her naivite. Shera is an idealist who relies on her warm heart to get herself through a troubling situation...though that does not always work out as one would hope.
Cid and Shera met while she was looking for a full time job. He needed some help with a project involving some "flying device" called the Tiny Bronco VII, and Shera jumped to the challenge. She knew very little about machinery, since it is such a rare thing to see, but she hoped her carpentry skills would be of some help. She has worked with him for a while now, and the two have become close dispite Cid's determination to deny it. Shera worries about Cid constantly, and does whatever she can to make him happy. She wants to get him to stop smoking, and is constantly worried that he isn't taking good enough care of himself.
Despite Shera's sunny outlook on their relationship, from the outside it appears much more confusing. Cid appears to talk down to her a lot, and is usually bossing her around to some degree. This all started from an accident that nearly took Shera's life, and almost completely demolished Cid's dream to fly. Because of this; however; Shera has dedicated her life to making it up to him, and doing whatever is needed to give him happiness.
